| 2-6-6-4 A-Class Steam Locomotives |
The 2-6-6-4 A-Class was developed by the Norfolk & Western to efficiently pull large coal drags. It did this flawlessly, and was one of their most successful locomotives. Number 1218 survives to this day; up until the end of the NS steam program, it pulled excursion trains. The photos below are of the MTH model, released in 2000. Those that follow are of the prototype, including one of the prototype 1218, upon which the model is based.
