The Mikado-class locomotives were freight-hauling workhorses.  With eight large drivers, they were ideal for pulling long, heavy consists, and occasionally found their way into passenger service as well.

Here are a few photos of a Pennsy class L Mikado that I took at the Railroad Museum of PA.

In June of 2007, MTH brought out a Premier line model of this very locomotive!  As the following photos show, it's an exquisite model!  The first photo shows the locomotive and tender broadside.

The next shows the locomotive by itself.
